Age Groups in Care Homes
Care homes can be registered to provide care for people under
65 or registered to provide care for people over 65.
In practice, the age cut-off at 65 is not set in stone
many homes are specially registered to care for people over
60 for example - but 65 is the official age and does tend
to be the typical cut-off age.
If you are looking for care for someone who is under 65 then
select the "under 65" option.
If you are looking for care for someone who is over 65 then
select the "over 65" option.
The only exception is if you are looking for care for someone
who is just under 65 - in their 60's say - who needs care
for general frailty typical of old age. In this case select
"over 65" and select the "Old Age" option
on the next page.
Any care providers which are registered to care in both age
ranges will appear in searches for either age group.
